The reason behind this page is that we must realise the complexities generated by the configuration of two or more corrosion cells arranged in 'open circuit'.



It is not impossible to define the possible configurations but we must be very careful to do it in a scientific and exact way if we are tuse a computer to analyse the corrosion status of each cell.



These drawings aid the imagination of the variety of electrical pressures and current directions throughout each of the systems.



These are simple illustrations but in reality all will be jumbled up in three dimensions from the ground level downwards.
